The company

For over 70 years, Moyno, Inc., a part of the Fluid Management Group of Robbins & Myers, Inc., has been a leading manufacturer and marketer of Moyno progressing cavity pumps, multiphase fluid transfer systems, grinders and controls. It has an extensive worldwide stocking distribution network that serves a wide range of industries including water and wastewater treatment, pulp and paper, chemical, food, pharmaceutical, mining, petrochemical, biofuels and oil and gas recovery.  It has distributors in 17 countries around the world and across the US.  Its headquarters and manufacturing plant are located at 1895 Jefferson St. in Springfield, OH in an over 300,000 sf complex situated on 12.5 acres in the western Springfield industrial area.  It employs about 250. 

The project

In the midst of the global economic meltdown in 2008, Moyno was hiring mechanics and engineers.  In 2009, the pattern of growth continues.  Moyno started a major expansion and upgrade to their research and development labs in May of this year and just recently announced that it has been completed.  The project will enable the company to expand its capabilities and speed the engineering development process.  In conjunction with its Customer Testing Laboratory, Moyno can quickly and effectively apply its technology advancements in the development of new products and the enhancement of existing products to best serve its global customers.  According to the media, upgrades include the following:

“• Advanced control systems to manage multiple tests as well as to track, display, record, store and retrieve a multitude of test data for analysis

• New equipment for evaluating every aspect of elastomer performance in controlled, simulated and actual application environments

• Computerized photographic capture, storage, retrieval and distribution of real time test images with direct links to customers

• Advanced machining/manufacturing operation that allows quick turnaround of all prototype components needed for laboratory testing without disruption of the factory schedule or delay” (Source: Waterworks article)
