The project and parent company Trilogy

I had the opportunity yesterday to visit with Mike Lacey, Executive Director at Forest Glen Health Campus, a 140-employee operation that offers assisted living, transitional care, long-term care, and skilled memory care.  The current $10M, 55,000 sf campus was established in 2006, as Trilogy—Forest Glen’s parent company—decided to build a new facility in the area.  Trilogy was started 11 years ago and has grown rapidly to 56 facilities in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky (where the HQ is), Illinois, and Michigan.  This new construction will add independent living villas as well as a 30-bed assisted living center focusing on those with memory impairment.

 Forest Glen achievements

Lacey is not only proud of the new addition, he is proud of Trilogy’s values and corporate culture.  In fact, the company was named to the top 15 list of Best Employers in Ohio.  He is also proud of the fact that their occupancy rate of 98% is tops in Clark County and one of the top in Ohio (88% is the average occupancy rate).

Using the TEAM program

One resource that Lacey, who interviews all prospective employees, uses to help reduce cost and turnover is the TEAM program run by OIC of Clark County.  The program allows Lacey to “test drive” employees, as he puts it, at no cost.  For up to four weeks, companies can preview employees for free, as TEAM participants (who are eligible for public assistance but have to apply and be accepted into TEAM) receive their pay through OIC during the trial period.  At any time, the employer can call TEAM and “terminate” the employee.  It also allows Lacey and his staff time to see if the employee will enjoy the healthcare arena, fit within the culture at no risk.  “I love the program,” he said.
